PENELOPE K. BOWDREN

Penelope K. Bowdren, 81, of Rockville, MD fell asleep in the Lord, December 11, 2023. Born Penelope Christie, August 19, 1942, Chattanooga, TN, she was born to Dennis E. and Theodora Christie. The family moved to Tallahassee, FL at age 10 months. Penelope was a graduate of Leon High School and studied at Florida State University. Penelope was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Francis Bowdren, and sister Eugenia Christie. She is survived by sister, Constance (husband John) Pavlides; brother E. Dennis Christie (wife Katherine) of Bradenton, FL; as well as four nephews, three nieces, four great nieces, two great nephews, and many friends. Penny enjoyed membership in the Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority. Friends and family may call at Pumphrey Funeral Home, Bethesda, MD, Tuesday, December 19. Visitation 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, December 20 at 10 a.m., St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 7701 Bradley Blvd., Bethesda, MD 20817. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Spring, MD 20906. Please visit Penelope's online memorial by going to
