PENNY PETERSON Obituary


PENNY PETERSON (Age 77)  
A school psychologist and actor, died March 5, 2018 of pancreatic cancer at her home in Silver Spring, MD.  Penny came to the Washington, DC area in 1962 to work for the National Institutes of Health and she spent the rest of her career working for the Montgomery County Public Schools as a school psychologist. She was president of the Maryland School Psychologist Association and was honored as a Distinguished Lifetime Member. She was also a delegate of the National Association of School Psychologists and served on its Government Relations Committee and chaired the nation's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Consortium. As an actor she appeared in theater productions and in background roles in many Hollywood movies, commercials, television shows, and as a professional role player for training local medical schools, attorneys in litigation exercises, police, and U. S. embassy personnel.  A wife and grandmother, Penny is survived by two sisters, Christine Brinkley and Judith Stevens, both of Champaign, Illinois; her husband, Morrie Kraemer; two daughters, Hilary (Erik) Henricson and Abigail (Tony) Figiera; and five grandchildren, Kyle and Jonas Henricson, Ella, Sofia and Vincent Figiera.  Burial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Manhattan Beach, California.

My deepest condolences for the loss of Penny. I just returned from Mexico and was devastated to learn of her passing. My love and prayers for you all, Abigail, Hilary and Morrie. Penny was a wonderful parent and wife as you already know. I think she was a remarkable woman as well, lovely and extremely talented. God bless you and your families in the days ahead.
