I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Peter, who was a dear and treasured friend. Upon reading his obituary I am reminded of how very much he enjoyed his life with his dear wife Charlotte, James, Daniel and Elizabeth children and their spouses and the grandchildren, and his extraordinary career. We maintained contact via letters and pictures. I have always been so proud of his many accomplishments. Since learning of his passing, I found several of his letters and pictures of his treasured family. He enriched my life, and seeing the obituary brought back many pleasant memories.

Susan and I were deeply saddened by Peter's death. Our thoughts go out to Charlotte and the Ehrenhaft family. Peter and I had known each other for close to 50 years and were both members of the American Law Institute, the Cosmos Club and the Appleseed organization. As a fellow commercial arbitrator, I valued and will sorely miss his wise counsel and advice.

I just learned of Peter's passing from the ALI Reporter newsletter. I have knwn Peter since Treasury Department days in the 70's and have always found him to be a charming amusing person with a very sharp mind. I am stunned and sad he is no longer with us.

Peter was a lawyer/scholar who was very highly respected by his colleagues. He loved his adopted country and was proud to be part of its legal and military establishments. He was so sharp and vital I always assumed he would long outlive me; what a shock to hear of his passing.

It is a great tribute to Peter that, nothwithstanding knowing me for 43 years, he always remained cordial and bonhomous.
He had a considerable brain (as testified by his Clerkships at the Supreme court, and, unsurprisingly, attracted friends and admirers throughout the world.

Peter Ehrenhaft was a committed member of the American Law Institute for forty years. His knowledge and experience concerning transnational law was valuable as we sought to understand difficult issues and then recommend steps toward law reform. Peter also helped me when I was dean of Columbia Law School, his alma mater. Columbia University and the ALI send our appreciation and our condolences to Peter's family. Lance Liebman, Professor at Columbia and Director, ALI.

Peter was a great mentor who encouraged me to reach for the legal stars (where Peter took his rightful place) and take photos along the way. I have lost a role model and will miss Peter dearly.

Peter was an inspiration to all around him. I had the privilege of working with him on what was surely his second-favorite case: Electric Golf Carts from Poland. He will be missed.

Peter was a lawyer's lawyer, and his insight into legal topics was razor sharp. But his sense of humor was equally prodigious. I recall Peter, wrapped in a 15-foot-long telex, dancing in his office to celebrate the good news the telex conveyed. A favorite trade case was "Panty Hose Knitting Machines from Italy" (which we won). As a mentor, there was no one finer. Peter's passing is a loss to his friends and family, and to the adopted country he served so well. RIP, Peter. Sincere condolences, Charlotte.

Very sad. Good man with strong clear views. Also enjoyed meeting his son at cross country meets when my daughter ran in high school. Small world.
