To Jubril, your family and friends of Princess. Although much time has past, August is still that bitter sweet month for me because your sister isn't with us physically. I remember her smile, her excitement to try new things and venture out into Villavicencio Colombia, where we were stationed. I remember the New Years party, where she had so much fun. Her driving on Colombian roads, and shopping in the Villa. Her love for animals.
Your sister was like the daughter I never had. Although the world has changed, your sister will always be remembered as someone who made it a better place to live.
May God, keep you, and bless you, all the days of your life.

I want to thank all of your kind souls for sharing condolences, heart felt memories, and prayers.
I'm her surviving sibling, Jubril. I was just about 8 years of age when she passed. I remember the day the Army men came to our door and I alerted my mother. Any child would have been just as unsure and confused as to what this meant, but I then knew immediately once my mother dropped her head to the ground and the soldiers around consoled her. I am now in my 20s, graduating college with a Bachelors in Entertainment Management. Hoping to utilize the Gold Star Family program and land an internship at Government agency. I even took ownership over her 06 Pink Barbie 5-speed Mustang, which she bought in 2006. She figuratively/literally got me through my transition to Houston. My sister has and remains my blessing and guardian angel, protecting me throughout my years, and every obstacle or challenge I have yet to face. I never thought I'd be so emotional or distraught over this writing 10+ years later; however grief is fleeting. I thank you all so much for your love and continuance to remember her spirit. As I know through my faith and God's promise we will be reunited. Until then, keep us safe in this crazy world.
And for the parents and loved ones for those enlisted, remain vigilant, keep the faith, and you too will be alright.
Would love to connect with some of you..reach out.

I just recently was able to pay my respects to an amazing woman warrior. I worked with Princess before we both joined the military at very young ages. I got to meet up with her again when she took my job over for me at the 1st BDE, 1 CAV, S2 when I was moved down to battalion level. She was always the perfect person for that job, i was just saving a spot for her. I am lucky to have known her during this life and I am blessed to be able to reflect on her life and visit her and remember that she gave all. I love you Princess! Thanks for our chat at Arlington the other day...I needed that big cry. HOOOOAH!

For the familly of the Princess we lost, from her freinds in Colombia South America. (Apaiy, Villavencio) Each day gets easy, but in our hearts we still cannot believe. This day will always haunt us, and although sad, we remember her smile and how she engaged life. We are glad we gave her smiles, and we are also glad we took that chance on New Years to party. We who where touched by you, we will never forget that we do not have just an angel but a princess looking over us.
I pray this message finds it's way to you familly and freinds, we couldn't find any more information.

I remember when we were training, u were having a difficult time, being away from home and I tryed to comfort you the best I could in front of the school house. It was tough. we were both so young, fresh out of high school. I dont think we even really knew what we were getting ourselves into. It's been a year, but it's still hard. I miss you battle. You tickled me, how u used to bellow out the cadences and pissed off the people in front of u cause u were right in their ear. Man they used to hate on you, halarious! As the Casualty Assistance Officer for this fallen comrade I was deeply saddened by the initial notification. Even moreso as I viewed this Soldier lying there in eternal rest. It was a year ago today! I can only imagine how much the family is still grieving as I continue to think of her and the many Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen that have fallen in combat. May GOD bless them and may GOD continue to bless you Anika and your family as the days go by.

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Anika and Family,
God led me to Princess's guest book and it was not by accident. I was looking for a friend of mines brothers guest book and saw Princess's name. I immediately started to cry. Anika, you may not remember me but I worked with you at NIH in the HR office. I instantly remembered how sweet and beautiful Princess was. I always admired how much of a devoted mother you are. My prayers and love go out to you and your family. May GOD continue to be with you always.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of SGT Samuels. I had the pleasure and fortune of meeting her at Fort Bliss, TX. SGT Samuels often spoke of her family (her mom, who she loved immeasurably), friends and of course, animals, especially the albino snakes. Princess would excitedly show me pictures of them. Princess was wise beyond her years and often had words of wisdom to offer which were shared among my friends and now they will always remember her because of them as well. The world is a better place because of her.

Me and Princess were teenage friends. I will always remember her real loud laugh, and the way she carried her self if school. She was always blount about what she had on her mind. The best kind of friends is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
Giving someone all you LOVE is never an assurance that they'll love you back! Don't expect in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile beacuse it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trails to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best everthing; they just make the most of everything that comes their way.
Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live you life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
