RAYMOND VAUGHN STUCHELL
Of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving wife and sister-in-law.
A graveside service will be held for Ray at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Arlington National Cemetery, Officiant
Ray was born on April 4, 1947 in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Vaughn and Rose Bulley Stuchell. Ray grew up in Niagara Falls where he graduated High School in 1965. After graduation he joined the Navy Reserves and after a short while decided to go full time active duty. Ray spent the next 20 years in the Navy, traveling the world and was stationed at multiple locations in California, in Italy, and finally in Virginia where he retired in 1986. Ray achieved the rank of Command Master Chief and was even considered for the position of Master Chief of the Navy, the highest position for an enlisted person in the Navy.
After the Navy, Ray went on to have a successful career as a contractor for the military and then went back to serve his country as a government analyst where he once again retired in 2015.
Ray was a long standing active member in the Lions Club and Aquia Harbour Yacht Club for several decades.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Barbara Fletcher Stuchell; sons, Rickey and Paul Stuchell; Step- daughters, Stacey Mazulerich Gladding and Rebecca Mazulerich Pitta; daughter-in-laws, Karen Mathews-Stuchell and Holly Diamond Stuchell; son-in-laws, Randy Gladding and Michael Pitta; brother Richard Stuchell; his grandchildren Karrie Stuchell, Izabelle Stuchell, Christopher Stuchell, Haley Diamond, George Gladding, Anthony Pitta and Joseph Pitta; numerous extended family members and many old friends.
A special thanks to Melody Kissel, his caretaker, for her compassionate care and to Blue Ridge Hospice.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lions club or Blue Ridge Hospice.
