I could not have had a better place to start my 45 year career in education. Dr. Ahlberg, his staff, and fellow faculty members could not have provided a more supportive role for me. I went on to teach at Catholic High School in Pensacola, FL (my Alma Mater) and McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile, AL where I became the first lay Principal at each school. I spent 24 years in administration. No doubt, Dr. Ahlberg helped me lay a foundation for my success.

When a person dies, he no longer is where he was-but now is wherever you are.

Seeing Dr. Ahlberg's obituary in the Washington Post brought back memories from more than 60 years ago when he was a teacher at Landon and tutored me. I was cheered to see the long life and success in teaching and life he enjoyed after leaving there. He was such a kind man and born to be a teacher; he could take the indecipherable subject and make it clear to those lucky enough to learn from him.

My fondest memory- A hot June day in 1961 (+or- 1). Dr Ahlberg called an assembly so that his students didnt have to sit in hot and stuffy classrooms. After expressing his fond appreciation for us, the stage curtains drew apart to the music of Charley Birds jazz combo. They serenaded us until the school day ended.
I believe that his students loved him as much as he loved us. May he Rest In Peace.

Bob Gastrock said it all and very well. Dr. Ahlberg was the best . The best principal, best example and best leader with an easy smile, admired by all. We students of Springbrook thanked our lucky stars for his appointment as our first principal.

Dr. Alhberg was a true gentleman who led by example. He was an exceptional leader, teacher, mentor, and friend. All students at Springbrook, especially the first graduating Class of 1964, were enriched by his presence. He was dedicated to preparing us well for life's many challenges and opportunities. For that we will all be forever grateful.
