Richard Emminger Obituary

Rick Emminger, 71, died stoically on August 21, 2025, after a brave battle against cancer. Born and raised in Kentucky, Rick lived most of his life in Pompano Beach, Florida, where he worked as a self-employed truck driver. A self-described "blue-collar guy," Rick deeply valued getting a job done right by using no short cuts. He was an old-school liberal and a voracious consumer of the news. He delighted in sharing his political opinions through lively discussions and by broadcasting them with his beloved collection of left-leaning hats. Rick believed in the mainstream media, union rights, and speaking truth to power. He abhorred pity parties and grievance politics. He was a devoted son to the late Geri Gunderson, a beloved father of Kelly and Kristina Emminger, a doting grandfather to Cameron and Cora Young, an admired father-in-law to Chris Young and Jeni Reklis, and a dedicated stepbrother to Carole Massey. In memory of Rick, don't smoke, and consider a donation to the great medical team at the UM Sylvester Cancer Center.
