Estrolita, I´m so sorry! Richard and you were very special friends and neighbors at Brookville. I´ll never forget, I had my Ford Tempo parked at back and you guys were checking it out inside and out. When I came outside we all laughed over the hilarious situation! I will treasure Richard´s artwork that he gifted me over the years! Please know my heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with you through this difficult time! Love you!

Richard was a renaissance man in every sense of the word. He could out run, out swim, or out play you on the courts all the while encouraging you to be your best. He would be the first to meet you with a smile, a hug, and occasionally, some of his homemade baba ganoush. His gifts were seemingly endless which is what made his 78 years seem so short. I was fortunate enough to meet and work alongside him while he led Concerned Black Men, DC Chapter's Just Say Yes mentoring program. While he will be missed, the seeds he planted continue to grow a bear fruit.

I believe I met Richard in 2006 after he joined our mentoring chapter. I was the president of the chapter while Richard became the chairman of the "Just Say Yes" committee, an idea conjured by Kelvin Glymph.
Richard and I mentored on a monthly, sometimes weekly, basis. In those years I grew to admire and just enjoy his freedom and spirit. I almost drowned trying to keep up with him swimming in the atlantic ocean and almost passed out trying to out volley him playing tennis. We never kept score we just counted the volleys. Everything Richard did embodied his unrestrictive spirit. I loved Richard he was a great friend and mentor. I will miss him dearly.

I met Richard in the early 1980s in Shanghai, WV through his next door neighbor. I was impressed that he had built his own house, but even more impressed with his watercolors, not to mention his affable personality. I did not see him much after that, but it was always a delight when I did. Many condolences to Estrellita and his family.

What a prince of a person. Richard was brilliant and kind. We are so proud to have him as an alumnus and friend of Burgundy.

My sincerest condolences to Estrellita and family in the passing of Richard.
My daughter and I became acquainted with the Norman Jordan Arts and Heritage Academy. Throughout the years while I became more actively involved with the Academy, Richard always worked magic with the students attendees.
He will be missed, yet his great works, love and deeds will never be forgotten.

Richard was a beautiful person and treasured friend who gave selflessly of himself to everyone. Though he had no biological children, he was father to many with whom he shared his life's passions. Richard while truly gifted, always remained humble and caring. His presence, always brimming with zest for life, will be a significant loss to all who are blessed to have been touched by the examples he taught through the way he lived.

Growing up with Richard as a next door, younger neighboor, I have fond memories of watching Richard's creative genius at work which resulted in fun play for me. He was always fun, gregarious, a mighty wit, and my childhood crush. Thank you Richard for fond fun memories.
