Scott and I both have fond memories of spending time in the Hupman Waynesboro home on weekends away from school or home. Mr. Hupman was always eager to tour and share his latest garden crop as well as the surrounding towns people, family and friends. It was often our home away from home and kept us connected to each other. We give thanks for his pragmatic and encouraging words about education, discipline and life. We will always treasure that time together and the memories.

John,
I am so happy that I got to visit recently with your Dad. So many years had passed but he still had his wit, humor, and that wonderful twinkle in his eye. These will be my fond memories of your Dad forever. Blessings and love to you and your family.

Dad and JM-
Don't have to tell you how sorry I am for this loss. I'm so glad I was able to spend time with him recently, and particularly enjoyed his smiles when we had our last few ice cream socials. I will never forget his fulfilling my wish to go to the Library of Congress as a child after writing his biography for my 3rd grade project. I remember thinking it was very cool to go with the former head librarian. He truly was a great man and I will remember him fondly. Love you guys.

John, I am your cousin, we met at Evers a couple years ago. I have great memories of your Mom (who was my Dad's first cousin) and Dad visiting us in Grottoes. Your Mom and Dad came to my mother's retirement party at Kellow Lodge. I remember what a delight your Dad was and that great twinkle in his eye. Your parents were a class act, as you know, and I hope to see you again at the memorial service. My sympathy to you, your wife, and all the family. Jerry and Kathy (Beck) Andes, Grottoes, VA

You taught me so many great things in life between the summers I spent with you and Grandmother when I was young, up til the day you left this earth. I will never forget them as I pass them on to my own family in years to come. You were the best Granddad, please tell Grandmother I said hello. I miss u both.
