Richard O'Connor Obituary

O''CONNOR RICHARD D. O''CONNOR On Friday, May 29, 2009 of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Maria O''Connor; father of Brendan O''Connor and his wife, Julie and Amalie Tolentino and her husband, Matthew; grandfather of Trent, Benjamin, Erin and Ainslie O''Connor, William and Dylan Tolentino. Mr. O''Connor is also survived by his mother, Grace O''Connor and his five siblings. Richard was a remarkable man. Behind his outwardly gruff demeanor was a kind and sensitive person that those closest to him knew and loved. He regularly cared for stray cats and despite all of his grumbling, he never turned his back on an animal in need. He had a way of making people feel at ease that earned him a great rapport with those he knew as well as those he had just met. He loved to travel, and wherever he went, he arrived to a new group of strangers but rarely left without a new group of friends. As a husband, father, brother and grandfather, he taught us all how to live and love and pursue our passions as he did. He had a sense of humor that was uniquely his own, and he never stopped trying to let us in on all of his clever jokes. He will be greatly missed. Memorial service will be held at Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902 on Friday, June 5 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alley Cat Rescue, http://tinyurl.com/RichardOConnorDonation Please view and sign family guestbook at: www.pumphreyfuneralhome.com
