On Wednesday February 6, 2013, Richard E. Proper, Sr. of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of the late Bettie L. Proper; loving father of Gayle R. Stephens and Richard E. Proper, Jr. (Brenda); brother of Dorothy Kunz and Betty Prather; grandfather of Dennis, Heather, Rachel, Anna and Robert; great grandfather of Braden, Nathan and Jayden. Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 East Deer Park Dr., Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., where a service will be held on Monday February 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. I am saddened to hear of the passing of my Uncle Dick. I remember his smiling face, kind words, quick humor and his willingness to help others. He was a great "shade tree mechanic" and I remember many times back in the late 60's and early 70's when he would drop whatever he was doing to help me keep my 1966 Corvair running at it's best. I love and miss you, Uncle Dick. All my love and sympathy to my cousins Ricky and Gail on their loss.
