RICHARD SCHACHT Obituary

RICHARD HENRY SCHACHT (Age 86)
Born January 2, 1935 to Carl and Mabel (Meyer) Schacht in Rockford, IL, Dick grew up to become the quintessential mid-Western gentleman. On April 6, 2021 he slipped the surly bonds of earth to enter the glory of his Lord. He was predeceased by first wife, Jane Joachim in 1993. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Patti (Jones) Schacht, three children from his first marriage, Mark (Donna), Ellen (Chuck) Reich, and Paul (Shalie) Schacht, two stepsons, Marc (Jeannie) and David (Terry) Schulman; grandchildren, Brittany, Karabanoff, Mark, Stephanie, Justin, Christian, Alexis Schacht, and Shelby Reich, step-grands, Rachel, Noah and Rexton Schulman, Scott, Casey, Hailey Schulman; and Joshua, Jenna, Krista and Kayla McAllister; great-grands, Cameron and Demi Karabanoff, and step great-grands, Melody, Zachary and Emily Schulman. Devoted man of God, he put feet to his faith and left this world a better place. His influence on those he mentored and loved will last for generations to come. In 1968, while at P&G he both named and launched the sales of Pringles Potato Chips, now in over 140 countries. Crossing racial lines, he was Co-founder of TheHouseDC, a safe house for Anacostia youth, and supporter of ICM church building ministry. He was an avid golfer and lifelong Michigan fan. GO BLUE!!! Memorial will be June 5, at 11 a.m, The Kings Chapel, 12925 Braddock Road, Clifton, VA, 20124. It will also be livestreamed from the church website - www.thekingschapel.org. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ThehouseDC.org/donate, in his memory.

Richard Schacht (known to me as "Dick") was everything and more that has been already described in his obituary. I got to know him when I was a pastor at McLean Bible Church. He was a humble, wise and soft-spoken man. His family was most blessed. He impacted my life for good and for the gospel. I and all of us will miss his presence. (Psalm 116:15)
