RICHARD B. TRUMBO, Ph.D  Colonel, USAF (Retired)  
Colonel Richard B. Trumbo, PhD, USAF (Retired), died Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Alexandria, VA, from complications of dementia. He was born February 2, 1933 in Norfolk, VA. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1954 and attended the Medical College of Virginia. He joined the USAF as a physiologist in 1957. He received his Master's and PhD from the University of Southern California. Col. Trumbo reached the pinnacle of his career as Chief of Aerospace Physiology in the Office of the Surgeon General. Retiring from the USAF after 30 years, Col. Trumbo established Aerospace Life Sciences, Inc. He was the Assistant Executive Vice President of the Aerospace Medical Association and was a 50+ year member of the Association where he was elected a fellow. He enjoyed sailing, skiing, tennis, and his WV homeplace. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Margaret E. Trumbo and his two sons and their families, R. Hunter Trumbo, wife, Stacy and sons, Jacob and Jackson, and Raleigh B. Trumbo, wife, Tina and children, Luke and Anna, all of Alexandria.  A celebration of his life will be on Friday, February 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 8531 Riverside Rd., Alexandria, VA 22308. Burial will be in Brandywine, WV, on March 4. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, Virginia Military Institute (Richard B.
