ROBERT M. ADRIAN, M.D. (Age 60)
An innovative dermatologist who specialized in cosmetic laser surgery died suddenly from an acute onset of leukemia on the morning of August 10. Dr. Adrian was born in New York City on December 22, 1946. He graduated from Georgetown University, attended Georgetown Medical School where he graduated valedictorian and Harvard University where he trained in dermatology and photomedicine. Using his unique educational background he later became a pioneer in the use of lasers for the treatment of skin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Adrian; four sons, Tom, Jack, Will and Robby; his mother, Elsie Adrian; his sister, Lorraine Cheyne; two brothers, Richard and Bryan Adrian. Friends will be received at Joseph Gawlers Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC, on Tuesday August 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bartholomew Church at 6900 River Rd., Bethesda, MD, on Wednesday August 15 at 11 a.m. Private interment on Thursday. Contributions can be made in his name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in lieu of flowers.
