Robert Andreae Obituary

Born October 5, 1947, at the Presidio in San Francisco, Bob was a proud Air Force veteran and dedicated civil servant. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1969 and went on to serve both in uniform and as a civilian at the Pentagon. His 42-year career culminated in his leading the Air Force Pentagon renovation project, earning him the title "Master Renovator". Bob was honored with the Air Force's Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award in 2011. Bob was deeply committed to service and community, including volunteer work with REACT, for which he received recognition for his humanitarian aid efforts during the 1982 Air Florida disaster.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vickie Cole Andreae; his daughter, Kristin Carter (Charlie); his stepchildren, Jennifer Buchko (Mark), Christy Zarro (Jim), and James Adair (Heidi); and ten grandchildren who were the joy of his life. He also leaves behind his sister Kathleen Andreae, brother-in-law Andy Cole, several beloved nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean Ellen Owens-Garret and Andreas A. Andreae; his in-laws, Imogene and Dewey Cole Jr.; and sisters-in-law Amanda Sloan and Nancy Cole.
Bob will be remembered for his love of Saturday night dinners with the family, adventures with the grandchildren, fishing at Burke Lake, and his sense of humor. He modeled devotion, kindness, and quiet strength. Private interment will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico.
