ANN B. VEATCH
May 23,1939 ~December 29, 2020 Robert M. "Bob" Veatch, Ph.D., was a loving father, husband, brother and son as well as a lifelong Cubs fan, educator and scholar. Born in Utica, NY and raised in Evanston, IL, Bob earned degrees from Purdue, UC Berkeley and Harvard University. A member of the second class of the Peace Corps, he served in Nigeria from 1962-1964. Bob was a pioneer in the field of biomedical ethics, seeking a greater voice for those who lacked power in the field of medicine. He began his career at the Hastings Center in 1970; in 1979, he joined the faculty at Georgetown University's Kennedy Institute of Ethics, where he served for more than 44 years. He authored, co-authored or edited numerous articles and books. He leaves behind a brother, William (Bill) and two sons, Paul and Carl. Ann B. Veatch was a devoted mother, wife, sister, and daughter. A lifelong member of the Alpha Phi International Women's Sorority, she dedicated her life to elementary education, her church, and more importantly, her family.Ann was born Chicago, IL, and attended Evanston Township High School, where she met Bob. She attended DePauw University before being asked by Alpha Phi to transfer to Colorado College, where she assisted the struggling sorority Chapter, became Chapter president, and college homecoming queen before graduating with a degree in elementary education. Ann taught in Jefferson County, CO and Fairfax County, VA for 56 years.Like Bob, Ann passed away after a short illness. She was proceeded in death by grandson Cody, and leaves behind a brother Bud, sister Lynn, daughter Lynn, and sons Michael and Nick; grandchildren Tate, Jackson, Nico and Esri; and great-grandchildren Nicoli, Margaux, Vivian, Cody, Phoebe and Wilder.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 10:30 a.m., National United Methodist Church, Washington DC. The event can be live steamed atNationalchurch.org/live-stream.

So sorry to hear of Ann´s passing . I remember her as a substitute teacher at Franklin Sherman. She was always such a joy and loved her time with the children. The entire staff sends their condolences to your family. We thank you for letting her be a part our lives.
