Robert Bartley Obituary

Passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2025. Buck was a beloved husband to the late Marcia Bartley and the late Susan Bartley, brother to Thomas Bartley (Martha) and the late Jane Bartley and a devoted father to six children: Audrey Patton (Keith), Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Bartley, III, James Bartley (Margarita), Sarah Hais (Adam), and Rachel Bartley (Kemper). He was also the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Born in Washington, DC in 1938, Buck was a graduate of BCC HS and the University of Maryland. Beyond his family, his greatest accomplishment was founding The Bartley Corporation, through which he pioneered the use of poured concrete foundations in the local area. Visitation will be held at St. Paul's UMC, 10401 Armory Avenue, Kensington, MD, on Tuesday, July 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., also at St. Paul's UMC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Montgomery Hospice, 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850.
