Good bye, friend. We'll meet again.

O Love, that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in Thee;
I give Thee back the life I owe,
That in Thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O Light, that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to Thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in Thy sunshine's blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy, that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to Thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be.

My deepest sympathy to Bob's family. Bob obtained Suki, the pup with renal disease, from me. It was through his encouragement that I found the strength to care for her until her demise. It was the hardest ordeal I had ever been through, as she was so innocent and loving, and didn't deserve what life had dealt her. Bob would tell me I was an angel for doing what I could to keep her with us for as long as possible. He was also responsible for funding the research into the disease that took her life, and for that and for his friendship and kindness, I am grateful. Suki now has an old friend with her, and I am comforted by the thought of the two of them walking on a distant shore, in a far better place than this earth. May God bless and keep Bob's family.

I did not know Bob terribly well. But, without doubt, he was a dear, sweet, kind, gentle human being. We're all blessed to have known him. I'll miss him, and cherish his memory.

May God be your, and our balm.

My sympathies to the Blumberg family and to all who loved him.

Although I did not know him, I knew of him and his love for our breed.
His life touched so many in his kindness. He will be sorely missed.

May he rest in peace until his loved ones come to him.

Peace and love. These are the rewards of Eternity and surely Eternity is the company of loved ones gone before. Suki and all who loved and were loved by Bob and are now in his company will be sharing the peace that must come to us all. The comfort of knowing that Bob is in such good company may lesson the burden of his loss, I hope so. He was a friend to those who could not help themselves. Our breed is poorer for his leaving.

My sympathies go out to the Blumberg family. I was one of the expedition leaders for Bob’s trip to the wreck of Titanic, as well as our trip to Greece and the Titanic’s sistership, Britannic. He had a wonderful spirit and was always there to contribute whatever he could. We all thought the world of him and will miss him.

I have never met Bob but read about him and his work for the Boxer. Those alone earned my deep admiration and respect for him.

May God comfort you and may He also comfort Bob. He was a great friend to the breed. I hope your good memories will bring you great comfort. Remember that grief is a very personal thing and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. Again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand as you go forward.

To the Bloomberg Family,

I met Bob after the loss of Suki. Even in the midst her dibilitating disease, He showed such kindness and generousity. He truly was a special person. I hope you find great comfort in all that he has left to us.

I had the pleasure of seeing Bob many times over the last few years through mutual friends in boxers. We had several fine and fun conversations. He had the very rare quality of listening and actually wanting to hear what the other person had to say. I think that was a hallmark of who he was, a generous and humble spirit who was also bright and funny. May God bless him and all of you. I can still remember the way his face lit up with pride when he talked about his girls.

I first met Bob in 2005 at the ABC Specialty in Kentucky...he invited me to share a spot at his table for the auction dinner. What a wonderful evening we had! All of us sitting around the table, chatting, drinking some wine and bidding on all the wonderful boxer memorabilia! Bob and I continued to correspond via email and his emails always brought a chuckle or a smile to my lips.

Bob had a kind heart and a generous spirit. He will be missed as both a person of spirit, and also as a fellow boxer lover.

God bless his family through these difficult times.

To Bob's Family, The fondest memory I have of Bob was at a Potomac match when he was holding a very small puppy, that had renal disease. He was so concerned about her and he loved her so much.
Please accept my deepest sympathy and know that he will be added to the list of persons that I pray for.

To the Bloomberg Family,
I met Bob only a few weeks ago and I feel as though I've lost a good friend. His warmth and generosity made such an impact in my life. He loved his family so much. That was apparent everyday I spoke with him. He will be missed by many. I pray he is now at peace. My deepest condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure to first meet Bob at Westminster in New York. He seemed such a quiet nice man. I met him several times forward at the ABC Boxer dog shows. He was always happy to be around the dogs and people. I grew to think very fondly of him. You have my deepest sympathies for the loss of such a kind man.

I don't recall if we ever met, but I spoke with Bob on the phone many times during "the dark time" at The Newport School. He was a great friend and supporter of the school. May his memory forever be a blessing.

Dear Blumbergs,

You have my sincere empathy over Bob's death. I am a father of three daughters myself, although I have two sons also, so I know the father-daughter bonds are strong & sweet. I attended the service this morning, and saw & felt the love he engendered in you. I'm not surprised. Bob was a good person -- a mensch -- and a kind & gentle man. There was a sweetness to his character and demeanor which is not often encountered. He & I were colleagues in State's Oceans Affairs office from mid-1995 to mid-'97. Though not friends, we were friendly -- there was never a harsh or unkind word between us. I recall that he was the office's point person for the annual United Way charitable giving campaign. I remember too that he advised me what kind of beers to ask for on my first trip to London. On one occasion we were going to lunch at a restaurant in Virginia to honor someone retiring from the Minierals Management Service, and Bob said, "I can eat, but I prefer to dine." It's a small remark, but one I shall always remember with a smile. Lastly, dear Blumbergs, please believe that Bob's essence, spirit, personality, soul, etc., is just as alive as it ever was, and he remains aware of and caring for you, just as much as when he was physically present with you. Life changes, but it does not end.
Sincerely yours,

Allison & Larry Chernikoff

Judy: Larry and I are stunned and heartbroken at this news. We are both out of town (Larry is in Madison with Ari and I am on business in Florida) or we, of course, would have been there today. We return Sunday and hope to see you and the girls. Our love, and prayers, Allison and Larry

Judy-
I really don't know what to say. I've thought of you guys so many times over the years since Rachel and Callie "flew the coop". I always have, and always will think of Bob as being a bright, good-hearted and nice man who truly loved his family and had a terrific sense of humor. As inappropriate as it is, I actually think of him every time some silly person does that "pull my finger" joke. He really used to make Rachel laugh. I would love to help if there is any way I can. I'm so sorry for all of you.
