It was my profound honor to be with him in the last days of his amazing life, spent with us at Sunrise. I loved sitting in his room, looking at photos and talking to him. My sympathies are with the Gilka family, but may you also revel in the joyous memories.

A granite block of a man with sense, sensitivity, ethics and a distinct antediluvian style. He was not a gabby man but when he spoke you listened, because Gilka had been there and carried unmistakable authenticity. Absolutely honest, his only deception was a gruff demeanor. This world is less interesting and less steady without Gilka.
