Robert Frederick Kreinheder

Robert Frederick Kreinheder passed away at home In Washington, DC, on September 22, 2024. He was born October 26, 1935 in Buffalo, NY, the third of four children of the late Elmer and Hulda (Goehle) Kreinheder. He was educated in the Buffalo public schools, attending School 16, where he was president of his class, and Bennett High School from which he graduated in 1953. He was a 1949 recipient of the Jesse Ketchum Gold Medal. He graduated from Cornell University, cum laude, in 1957. In 1957 he went to work for NSA as a language analyst/cryptologist, later specializing in Burmese and Korean. On November 14, 1957 he was married to Hazel Fuller, of Amherst, MA, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Washington. Upon his retirement from NSA in 1990, he worked for many years as a free-lance genealogist.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, and sons John, of the home, and Paul (Debra) of Dunwoody, GA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Marilyn (Ellwood) Becker, Donald (Charlotte) Kreinheder, and June (David) Rynne, and all his first cousins. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Alexandria, VA; Phi Beta Kappa; the Dundee Society; the Capitol Hill Restoration Society; and the Association of Oldest Inhabitants. Services will be held Friday, September 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Congressional Cemetery, 1801 E St. SE, Washington, DC, where interment will follow. Contributions may be made to Capitol Hill Village, 1355 E St. SE, Washington, DC 20003. Rapp Funeral and Cremation Services was in charge of arrangements.
