I have not lived in Sacramento since 1971, but I heard of Congressman Bob Matsui from my brother in law Ron Wood, who trusted Senator Matsui's leadership. Ron died January 14th, and I pray that Ron and Congressman Matsui can lead our country from heaven. Peace and blessings to the Matsui family and sayonara, Congressman. It was a severe shock to hear of Mr. Matsui's passing.

It was much too soon for such a great person to be taken and he will be deeply missed by all. Our deepest condolences to his family.

I wish I could have voted for him, but his district ended at the north end of Elk Grove.

He did so much for those that he represented and for the Japanese American community (redress).

I hope that he inspires more Asian Americans to become involved in the political process. He was a pioneer to be remembered.

Heartfelt thanks for all that you did for humanity.

May you rest in peace Mr. Matsui.

My condolences and deep regret for your loss. I attended Berkeley with Brian and was in the same fraternity, Delta Upsilon. Many years after I had served in the United States Air Force Reserves, I became aware that I did not receive my full credit (points). Once I discovered this I tried to correct this, but nobody would listen or help me. It wasn't accurate until I had written to you. You and your staff so kindly assisted me in resolving this matter. I've never forgotten how you made a wrong, a right. Thank you.

As a Japanese-American sansei, and a Sacramentan since 1985, I am deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Matsui. I would like to express my condolences to the family and thank them for their support of him and all the wonderful work he did in his too-short lifetime. Though I did not know him, I feel a deep connection and pride for the wonderful legacy he left not only as a Japanese-American, but as a truly great human being. May God bless your family.

My condolences for the Matsui Family. Bob was a wonderful and kind gentleman who was very generous with his time and advice. I had the opportunity to meet Bob, Doris, and Brian when I was hanging out with Barbara Matsui until her death. I was touched with the love he had for his sister. He was a great public servant that would be surely missed and his love for family and friends remembered. May God bless Bob and may God bless and watch over the Matsui family for the days and years ahead.

I am new to the Sacramento area, but I have heard many wonderful things about him and his love for his family, concern for all of his constituents, and service to the public. I would like to thank Congressman Robert Matsui and his wife Doris for all their support to help in the research of duchenne muscular dystrophy. As a parent of a child with dmd we could always count on Congressman Matsui to support Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy's request each year to congress. He offered families like mine hope for a better future for their sons.

He was always there to hear the needs of his constituents. Yes, he was "a good and decent man". Our hearts and prayers are with the family.

As a native Sacramentan, I always remember my grandparents talking about how they were going to vote for Robert Matsui. They both passed away in 1984, 20 years ago,but that's one of the few things I remember about them. So when it came time for me to cast my first vote, I am proud to say I voted for such a wonderful reprsentative of our great city. As sure as I am there will be 100 degree days in Sacramento in the summer, I'm sure Bob Matsui will always be beloved in our city. He makes me proud to be a Sacramentan.

I wanted to thank the Matsui family for allowing the Memorial Service and Funeral Service to be aired on Channel 3. This gave those of us who could not make it a chance to "be there." As a member of the "sansei" generation, I would like to thank the Matsui Family for allowing their husband/father, to devote so much of his life to helping those that did not have a voice. My parents are now both deceased, but were alive when the "Redress" occurred. They were very grateful for everything that was done to accomplish the apology. To the Matsui Family, I send my deepest sympathy for your tremendous loss.

Congressman Matsui was always there ready to provide a helping hand. Personally, while I was teaching AFJROTC at his alma mater, CK McClatchy High School, he was always gracious enough to visit and support our Cadets in rendering patriotic honors to the United States of America. To Congressman Matsui may he rest in peace eternally! Our deepest condolences to all his loved ones. In addition,

we are forever grateful to this wonderful man for his professional assistance in solving the problem of our daughter's divorce. God Bless Our Congressman and grant us the fortune to have someone like him in office again.

My children's father, Ben Matsumoto, was 12 years old when he, wearing his Boy Scout uniform, was sent to an internment camp. This outrageous and unAmerican era weighed heavily on the family and Japanese-Americans. It was a shocking and bitter history lesson for our children when they studied it Rancho Cordova schools. When the Reparations came finally), my in-laws had died, but Ben received the money and gave it to our children. The monetary amount, of course, was not important, the gesture and government's appology was significant. Rep. Matsui's courage to stand up as an American and demand that acknowledgement of wrong doing restored some dignity and is something my children and I are grateful for. Thank you.

Everything my family has we owe to Robert Matsui. S.S denied my husbands disability as he lay in ICU after chest surgery for a form of Muscular Dystrophy. We wrote to Bob, prior to this and asked him to help us after the initial denial. While my husband lay in the hospital, I got a call from Bob Matsui's staff, telling me that the denial was overturned and our first check was already in our bank account. We paid our bills, and bought a refridgerator. It may sound insignificant to most people, but at the time, and to this day, I thank Bob Matsui everyday. Without that aprooval, my family would have lost our home.Today I am a caregiver, and we are activists in the fight for civil rights for the disabled. Bob lit my candle and I intend on setting a blaze!! I love you Matsui family,Thank you.

Mr. Matsui not only blazed a trail for Asian Americans in California politics but also mastered the skill of politics through kindness. Instead of trying to ram legislation through with sheer political muscle Mr. Matsui mastered the art of killing them with kindness. In this new era of politics through sheer might Mr. Matsuis recipe for success will surely be missed.

I would like to extend my condolences to the Rep. Robert T. Matsui's family in there loss.

Though his death was a shock to hear on the news, I wanted to send a note to the family.

Last year, my Mother was having a difficult time getting her social security and it took over a year for her to get it.

When she called Rep. Matsui's office, they said, they would give him a message and look into her situation. Due, to her phone call to his office, the next week she received a letter that she would be receiving her social security for disability. Although, she never got to meet and "thank" him personally, it is because of him, she was able to have matter resolved.

He will be soarly missed in the congress and I am glad I was a young person to have been able to learn about politics and vote for a man that really cared about his Country and community.

May God continuously bless, the Matsui family!

Out of all the men and women that I have seen elected and unelected throught out the years, the one man I have always respected has been Rep. Robert Matsui.
