ROBERT NOLAN Obituary
ROBERT DANIEL NOLAN Lt. Col (Ret.)
On Friday, July 6, 2012 of Rockville, MD passed in Washington, DC. Beloved husband of 53 years of Hilda Nolan. Father of Anthony (Susan) Nolan of Lothian, Alexandra (David) Sumway of Oakton, Virginia, and Richard (Silje)Nolan of Oslo, Norway. Grandfather of 12 grandchildren. Mr. Nolan is also survived by his brothers Edmund and Richard Nolan. Robert Nolan is the son of the late Daniel and Agatha Nolan. Bob a native of North Carolina, became a Marine Aviator in 1954 after graduating from St. Michaels's College in Vermont. After active duty he continued to fly with the U.S. Marine Corps Air Reserve until retiring in 1974. As a civilian he had a 40 year career as an accountant with Geico. Bob was fond of traveling with his wife Hilda and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was dedicated to his family and church. Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE, INC, 7557 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814 on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass will be offered at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 4900 Strathmore Ave., Garrett PaRk, MD 20896 on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. We will always remember Bob as the consummate gentleman, a gentle, loving supporter of his dear Hilda and beloved children, and as the delight of his grandchildren. His warm smile was ever present, even under the Santa beard as he played his favorite role. Our hearts and prayers go out to Hilda, Anthony, Alexandra,and Richard. Bob will be missed.
