Robert Santucci Obituary

April 3,1950 - October 7, 2023

Robert, AKA Bob, was born in Washington, DC, the oldest and first son in a family of eight children. He was a born leader, first of his siblings and then in the greater world. He was educated at Gonzaga and Georgetown and by having lived a full life. He made his home in Moorhead City, NC for the past 29 years.

Bob leaves his widow of 46 years, Virginia Woodland Santucci, AKA Ginny. They shared three sons: Christopher Roelofs and his children Gavin and Nina; Thomas Roelofs and his wife Christiane and grandson Robert; and Nicholas Santucci and grandson Lukas, as well as Lukas's mom Jurgita Abromaviciute. Six of Bob's seven siblings also survive him as does his step mother.

If anything needed to be done, Bob was the person to call. He had an uncanny knowledge of how to get things done and he was singular in his ability to accomplish whatever he set his mind to do.

Bob worked tirelessly to help make housing healthier for folks all over the country, and especially for children. He authored and delivered 28 post-graduate training programs in which he shared ways to modify buildings into safe places for people to live. He advised individuals, universities, and a plethora of national and local organizations and governments, sharing his expansive knowledge of the housing industry. Bob was a respected expert in business planning, asset management, construction management, production management, cost estimation, and hazardous materials mitigation, among other fields. Bob was truly a jack of all building trades. He also selflessly spent many, many months helping the people of New Orleans recover from Katrina. He, too, was a force of nature.

Please join us in honoring Bob at a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 at The Club, 812 Evans Street, Moorhead City, NC. For more information, write [email protected]. To honor Bob, feel free to leave messages through legacy.com or to make a donation in his name to the National Center for Healthy Housing nchh.org

Hello friends and family, as some of you know, my stepfather died late last year. I didn't share this with many, out of respect for Bob and our family... Here is a nice piece written about Bob from a couple family members that just was posted in the Washington Post. Bob is everything in this article and more to me... Bob entered my life in forth grade and was more than a stepfather to me. For the many of you that knew Bob, he could be a stern man at times, but he cared about his family and people in need. He taught me great work ethics, life long skills and lessons that I will take to my grave. He was the rock and the corner stone of our family. We lived a long life together and shared many great and tough times. I prefer to remember all the great times we shared together. I took care of Bob and Mom, that last two years of his life. Bob and I became closer than we ever were and I think he realized that he could fully depend on me for daily needs and support and I also feel that I had finally earned all of his love and respect. I was by his side until his last breath and did everything possible to make his last years good ones and to let him know that I would continue to take care the love of his life/my mom now with dementia, his business affairs and estate with integrity... This picture was taken at my wedding reception and that was one of many happy times for Bob, our family and friends to remember. I love and miss Bob everyday... My heart is broken, but it is time to be strong for Bob and our loved ones who depend on me to be fair and strong like Bob. We had a good life together and he did a great job teaching me how to be a strong, independent, caring, loving man... I'm now the rock and it's because Bob showed me how to be... He is missed by all of us dearly... I miss and love you Bob, your faithful and grateful son Tom... Old man take a look at my life, I'm a lot like you... Happy Birthday Bob! We love and miss you dearly, Tom, family and friends!!!
