ZEISLER, ROBERT MICHAEL, Lt. Col. USMC (Age 46)

LT. COL. ROBERT MICHAEL "MIKE" ZEISLER, 46, of Carlsbad, CA, died March 10, 2004. He was a pilot in the United States Marine Corps. Mike was on a routine training mission when the plane he was co-piloting crashed while attempting to land at Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, CA.

Mike was the son of the late Robert W. Zeisler and is survived by his wife, Gwynn of Carlsbad; his mother, Gertrude; sister, Christine and niece, Tania of Alexandria, VA, and stepchildren, Nate and Kerry of Des Moines, IA. Mike grew up in Alexandria, VA and graduated from T.C. Williams High School in 1976. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1980 and received his commission in the Marine Corps in 1980. He attended flight school in Pensacola, FL and spent much of his military career in California. He participated in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mike will be buried at Quantico National Cemetery where his father, an Army veteran, is also buried. He is loved by many and will be sorely missed. Memorial services, Quantico Marine Corp. Chapel on Monday, March 22 at 12:30 p.m. Interment Quantico National Cemetery.
