Roberta Severo Obituary

Roberta Edwards Severo (nee Edwards) of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away on October 30, 2025 from complications due to Alzheimer's. Roberta was born in Washington, DC on June 3, 1945, the middle daughter of Perry and Virginia Edwards (nee Fall). Roberta attended High Point High School before a fulfilling career in Social Services.

Roberta was a life-long learner who attended UMD before graduating with her BA at Georgetown University. After a career break to raise two children, Roberta obtained her Master's Degree in Social Work from VCU and found her calling to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP). She spent sixteen years as a Social Worker with Fairfax County and considered her career one of her greatest accomplishments, second only to her family. Her many interests included travel, gardening, reading, skiing, photography, languages, crafts, cooking, and cheering on local and collegiate sports teams.
Roberta is survived by her sister Barbara and brother-in-law Terry Wertz, sister-in-law Pat Ingram, sons Anthony (Jeanette Wong) Severo and Marc (Kelly) Severo, as well as granddaughter Luciana and grandson Nico. She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen Edwards, and husband of 43 years, Armando.
A small gathering to celebrate her life will take place with family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association of America at www.alz.org or the American Stroke Association at www.stroke.org.
