FRAY ROBERTS BROWNING FRAY Roberts Browning Fray-referred to as Robin Carey in her professional life-of Charlottesville, Va. died on December 17, 2015 in Fauquier County, Va. at age 61. Robin, born on February 16, 1954 in Charlottesville, Va., was the daughter of Mary Fauntleroy Cocke and Jackson Lee Fray, who preceded her in death. Roberts Fray grew up in Culpeper, Va. and graduated from St. Anne''s Belfield in Charlottesville, Va. She entered as an Echols Scholar and graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1976 where she majored in English and History. A loyal Charlottesvillian, she was also a guide at Monticello, which reflected her love of the Commonwealth of Virginia that had been handed down to her by her parents. After Robin graduated, she worked for Esquire Magazine, The Washington Post, Forbes Magazine, Fortune Magazine and by age 35 was the national sales director of The National Journal in Washington, D.C. She raised her two beloved sons, Preston Fray Carey and James Duncan Carey in Maplewood, N.J., with her husband at the time, Robert James McDonald Carey. Robin was an active and popular member of the community and cherished by her friends. In 2007, she co-founded Social Media Today, a successful social media marketing website that marked her legacy. Under Robin''s leadership, Social Media Today flourished and was consistently recognized for its innovation in business-to-business publishing. Robin was also a dedicated volunteer for the International Rescue Committee and former co-chair of The Women''s Refugee Commission, on whose board she served from 2005-2014. She was a passionate political advocate and marched and protested for the welfare of the community whenever she could. In 2012, she married John Dudley Casey, novelist and Professor of Creative Writing at UVa. She was a loving and caring mother and step-mother, who took great care to seamlessly blend families. Robin is survived by her husband John Dudley Casey of Charlottesville, VA; her sons Preston Fray Carey of Philadelphia, Pa. and James Duncan Carey of San Francisco, Ca.; her step-daughters Maud Innis Casey of Washington, D.C., Julia Steuart Casey, Clare Romeyn Casey and Eleanor Dudley Casey and her husband Jesse Drucker and their children Hank Drucker and Eve Drucker, all of New York, N.Y.; her siblings Jackson Lee Fray of Culpeper, Va., Mary (Molly) Fray Sanford and her husband, Steve, of Syria, Va., and Preston Cocke Fray and his wife Kaye Bence of Burbank, Ca. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul''s Memorial Church on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at 2 p.m. Robin''s good friend Father Bill Albinger will officiate. Reception to follow.
