Ronald Rackey

Ron, an exceptionally fine man, left us on December 11, 2023. USA, 1961-1968. His skills in organizing and serving as VP, UFCW Local 400, Washington, DC for over 20 years were legendary. After retiring, Ron taught himself gardening, designing and creating a beautiful yard for himself and many others in his neighborhood. His favorite pastime was eating fresh crabs and drinking beer, and listening to the music from the movie, Rocky. His life was marked by his deep love for his children, Ronald C. Rackey and Heather R.H. Gillette; his four grandchildren, NIcholas, Hannah, Isabelle Hughes, and Carver Rackey, and his wife, Sally Rackey and dog, Moe. He was predeceased by his brother, Dick, and is survived by Dick's wife, Sue, and family, Sarasota FL; and his sister, Judy Wisneski (Dr. Leonard Wisneski) and family, Conifer, CO.
Services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, Friday, March 15, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to the Rackey home following the service.
