Rosalie Maglione-Alligood (Age 72)
Rosalie Maglione-Alligood, of McLean, passed away on April 15, 2023. Rosalie was born in Philadelphia, PA to Columbia "Kay" Maglione and Carmine Maglione on March 13, 1951. She married Paul B. Alligood Jr. on July 12, 1986, in Oreland, PA. That union produced two children, Nancy Irene Alligood, born in 1988, and John Paul Alligood, born in 1991.
She attended Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia and was a first-generation college graduate, earning her Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Pennsylvania State University. Rosalie went on to receive a Master's degree in Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Juris Doctor degree from Catholic University School of Law, and a Master's degree in Tax Law from Georgetown University.
Rosalie worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 35 years, most recently as the Senior Program Analyst for the Deputy Commissioner. Following her retirement, she served as an Assistant General Counsel for the District of Columbia Office of Tax and Revenue.
In her free time, she was involved in a host of activities including scrapbooking, quilting, and studying the Italian language. She loved to travel and was particularly fond of seeing the world via cruise ship. Recent trips included visits to New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and points in the Far East. She was a lifelong Catholic and a loyal parishioner at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in McLean.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her mother and her father. She is survived by her husband, her children, her brother, James Maglione and her sister-in-law, Donna Maglione.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, McLean, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Rosalie's name to "So Others Might Eat" (SOME), an organization that works to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness in Washington, DC.
Rosalie's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and care team at Inova Fairfax Hospital's neurosciences ICU, especially Emily and Gabrielle.
