Born on May 17, 1918 in New York City to John J. and Sarah (Wallweber) Bautz, Sr. A long time resident of McLean, Virginia and member of Saint John Catholic Church, she passed away on September 5, 2003, at the age of 85. She was married to Joseph H. Felter, Sr., a career military officer, for 51 years and will be buried with him in Arlington National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on September 12, 2003. They spent more than 30 years traveling around the world prior to 'Harold's' retirement from the US Army. Survived by a large and loving family of 3 sons; Dr. Robert A. Felter, wife Conchita of Youngstown, Ohio, John K. Felter, Esq., wife Linda of Cambridge, Massachusetts, James M. Felter of Washington, DC; 5 daughters: Dr. Patricia A. Smith, husband Dr. David Smith of Tulsa, OK, Jane Leonard, husband Jack of San Diego, CA, Suzanne Lippe, husband Dr. Michael Lippe of Mahawa, NJ, Diane Maestri husband, Michael of McLean, VA, and Christine Felter of San Francisco, CA. She will be greatly missed by her 26 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children in whom she took great joy: Major Joseph H. Felter III, wife Lynn and sons Darby and Benjamin, Lisa Marie Riggins husband, John and daughter Hannah, Jocelyn and Steven Felter, Frank Muller III, Lisa and children Whitney, Elizabeth and Frank IV, Kimberly Arnhols and daughter, Gabrielle, Christian and Fredrick Felter, Mary Jo Dyer, husband Robert and son Robert Eamon, Capt. Joseph Lock, wife Claire and son Ryan, Capt. James Lock, wife Dr. Keri W. Lock, Christine Reynolds, husband Jason, Dianne, Theresa, Janey, Ann-Marie, and Katie Lock, Paige, Jordanna and Jeryl Lippe, Michael, Anthony, Joseph, Patrick, Robert and Rose Maestri. She also leaves behind two brothers, Albert A. Bautz and Robert E. Bautz of East Meadow NY, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Col. Joseph H. Felter Sr.(ret), son Col. Joseph H. Felter Jr.(ret) and one grandchild, Michaela Maestri. Although she is no longer with us, we will always hold her in our hearts. Rest in peace, Mom, Give Dad a hug from us.

Sorry that we cannot be with you at this time of loss. Mrs. Felter was a wonderful woman who displayed great faith and raised a beautiful family. We shall all miss her. I am sure that she is with Harold in heaven.
