On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, RUTH SNYDER of Washington, DC. Beloved daughter of the late David and Edith Karl; loving sister of Edward (Martha) Karl and Karen (John Heidema) Karl. Also survived by several neices and nephews. Graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, 11 a.m. at Ohev Shalom The National Synagogue Cemetery, 3233 15th Place SE, Washington, DC. Shiva will be observed at the home of Edward and Martha Karl. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice., Arrangements entrusted to TORCHINSKY HEBREW FUNERAL HOME, 202-541-1001.

My memories of my dearest friend Ruthie are with me everyday. How can I put almost 70 years of memories in writing. Today, I am now looking at a framed picture of a greeting card that sits on my dresser that she sent me of Glinda the Good Witch when I moved to Oregon 20 years ago so she can watch over me. I miss her terribly. But the memories do make me smile.

1 of the warmest people who I have ever had the pleasure of being with. Her laughter was infectious and her smile and personality would light up a room. A favorite of our family and SOO many memories to last a lifetime.......if only we had the time for more. You will be missed always.............

I first met Ruthie when we were 10 and 11 years old. She tells the story how the first time she saw me riding my bike with my hair flowing in the wind that "she had to meet that girl". And we met. We created a summer camp for neighborhood children together when we were 13. We were inseparable. We were soulmates. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding in 1966. I cheered her on when she performed magnificently in our high school production. We were together at NIH when she was participating in clinical trials. I loved her with all my heart and I´m devastated to first be learning of her passing just today. Ruthie I love you and I know you love me. Thank you for the joy and the remarkable friendship.

Ruthie and I were classmates at the Hebrew Academy in Washington. I will never forget my very first day in first grade. Ruthie greeted me on the playground. She stuck out her hand and said "my name is Ruthie. What´s your name?"She was beautiful inside and out and always kind and friendly. I am sad to hear that she has passed away and will never forget what a kind beautiful soul she was. Baruch Dayan Emet.My condolences to Karen,Eddie and all family members.
