Sadie Grossman Obituary

GROSSMAN
SADIE E. GROSSMAN

Of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Oxon Hill, MD, died January 20, 2007 of natural causes, at age 96. She was a secretary in the U.S. Department of Justice before World War II. She served as a sergeant in the Women's Army Air Corps during the war, after which she and her sister owned and operated Sandy Sue Kiddie Shop in SE Washington, DC for 33 years. Their store was a national first prize winner of the Brand Name Award for small businesses.

Miss Grossman taught reading to illiterate adults and was active in Women's American ORT. She is survived by nieces Joyce Hoffer (Annapolis, MD, Norma Sue Wolfe (Staten Isalne, NY) and Marilyn Ruben (Yuma, AZ). Also grandnieces Rachael Barkley and Amy Ruben; grandnephews Lee, Brian and Alan Hoffer; and three great grandnieces.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 22 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at United Hebrew Cemetery, 3901 Washington Blvd, Baltimore, MD. Contributions may be sent to the Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation, Dept. 560, Washington, DC 20042-0560 or Elderhostel, 11 Avenue de Lafayette, Boston, MA 02111, or Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches, 7810 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, FL 33405. Arrangements by SOL LEVINSON AND BROS., INC.
