I roomed with Sam at the University of Cincinnati for several terms. He was generous in driving me to Sunday Mass and to a chinese restarant afterwards. I eventually became a Catholic as a result of several people who were kind to me. I am glad he had a happy life.

My deepest condolences to Sam's life partner and extended family. His passing is a loss the full extent of which can't be measured. I have many fond memories of our interactions during our early Wall Street days and for some years following. I regret that in more recent years, time and space precluded more active contact. I hope that his accomplishments will continue to bear fruit for all he cared so deeply about. I pray that God's blessings will support those who loved Sam best during this period of grief. Respectfully.

Sam and I knew each other many years ago when we were part of a very small group of African Americans seeking to make our way in the world of the large investment banking firms. He was a good man and always a source of encouragement and advice. Saundra and I send our condolences to his family.

I met Sam in the early 80s as he was setting up his firm, Ewing Capital. From this chance encounter we went on to develop a friendship that lasted for many years. Although we lost contact in recent years, I remember the many times we got together to talk business, go to restaurants and go to Wizards games. I always found him very engaging, fun loving and gracious. He will be sorely missed! My deepest condolences to his family especially his wife, Brenda.

Sam was a 1961 Engineering classmate at the University of Cincinnati. You had a great career and a proud grad from both UCs. RIP and our prayers are with your family. Rich Foley
