Samuel Irving Morris Girson, 93, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025. Born on September 24, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Edward and Ida Girson, Sam cultivated a love for sports and a passion for political engagement.

Sam spent more than 40 years as a dedicated public servant. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955. After leaving the Navy, he worked for RCA and then the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1992. In retirement, Sam volunteered in several leadership positions with the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and enjoyed traveling with his family.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Norma Girson (nee Huppert); his children, Andrew (Joyce) Girson and Matthew (Sarah) Girson; two grandchildren, Anneliese (Matthew) Girson and Gabriel Girson; and one great-grandchild, Quinn. He was preceded in death by his four siblings, Leonard Girson, Marion "Mickey" Lipshaw, Cecelia "Ceil" Goldstein, and Leroy Girson; son Adam Girson; and grandson Aaron Girson.
