Dr. Sara A. (Stoesser) Veech, 70, died at her home in Alexandria, VA on Sunday, July 30, 2006. Dr. Veech was born in Louisville, KY on August 3, 1935, daughter of the late Raymond and Ann (Carvill) Stoesser.
Dr. Veech was raised and educated in New York and Paris, France. She graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1956. She received her MD from the University of Vermont in 1966. She was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society. She was the second woman to graduate from the University of Vermont. Dr. Veech served her residency at St. Luke's in New York City. Her fellowship was in Cardiology at John Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Veech worked at the Alexandria Hospital and the Flora Krause Casey Clinic in Alexandria, VA, The clinic provided medical care for the underserved population in the Alexandria area.
Dr. Veech had been summering in South Londonderry, VT for most of her life.
She enjoyed tennis and was an avid artist. She mostly worked in watercolors. She was a longtime member of the Old Presbyterian Meeting House in Alexandria, VA.
Sara was a devoted mother to her four children, Dr. Andrew Stoesser Veech of Williamsburg, VA, Dr. Thowas Hayden Veech of Richmond, VA and Dr. George Arthur Veech of Boston, MA and Jennifer Judith Veech of Alexandria, VA; Also survived a sister, Judith Wiser of Paris, France; three grandchildren, a niece and a nephew,
Services were held in Vermont. Donations in her memory may be made to the Flora Krause Casey Health Center, 1200N. Howard Street, Alexandria, VA 22304 located adjacent to Inova Alexandria Hospital. Telephone (703) 519-5979.
