SCOTT ROBERTSON Obituary

'OBERTSON SCOTT LYNN ROBERTSON (Age 55) Of Potomac, Maryland, died on February 7, 2013, of a heart attack. Born in Edison, New Jersey, the only child of George and Delores, Scott was raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island. He attended Brown University and Boston University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and was editor of the Law Review, going on to clerk for Chief Judge Ernest Torres of the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Scott was a partner at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Hunton & Williams and later at the firm of Goodwin Procter. One federal district court judge before whom Scott frequently appeared recently expressed his "great admiration for Scott's skills as a trial lawyer as well as his honesty, integrity and ability to find humor after periods of great intensity at trial." His colleagues and clients admired him for his intellect, his integrity, his fierce advocacy and the way he managed, despite the intensity of his work, to bring to every endeavor compassion and respect and an unmatched, self-effacing humor that charmed everyone who worked with him. Scott loved the outdoors, particularly spending time at the ocean, and was honored by the Boy Scouts of America with the distinction of Eagle Scout before he was 15. He was a talented skier and golfer, and played soccer in high school and college. He was a prolific reader, particularly biographies, and loved to travel. He also enjoyed and had a deep knowledge of baseball, basketball and football. A devoted husband, father and colleague, Scott was passionate in all of his pursuits, but above all his family and spending time with them in their Potomac home was the singular joy of his life-his wife Holly of 17 years, their daughter Hannah (15) and sons Ethan (14), Colin (11) and Aidan (8). A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 14 at Potomac Presbyterian Church, 10301 River Road in Potomac, Maryland. In lieu of flowers please send all donations to the Boy Scouts of America, NCAC 9190 Rockville Pike Bethesda, Maryland 20814.

Not sure what to say?

I was never old enough to pick your brain on certain topics but the good memories we had will forever remain in my heart I was too young to understand the value of what you had built but every day your incredible worth ethic is what I try to instill in my work I miss you more than words can describe but I hope I can hold up to your legacy and aspire to achieve such accolades as you, dad you're the reason I am where I am today and I couldn't thank you enough losing you has taught me so much about the world and until next time I can only hold my head high and be the best person I can aspire to be thank you for everything I know you're out there somewhere in the cosmic universe seeing this message.

I remember Scott from 40 years ago when I was a Boy Scout with him in Troop 50 Cumberland. He and my brother Jamie became Eagle Scouts together. I remember him helping me to put my tent up when we camped at Buck Hill. My thoughts and prayers are with his family & friends at this difficult time.

Holly,
Barb and I were shocked at the news.
Although we were miles apart, you All were always in our thoughts and heart.
I`m sure Scott would want you to be strong and carry on remembering the good times.
Love to You and the Children.

The Robertsons are a warm and loving family, and I am sure that Scott will be remembered fondly and deeply missed. I know one of his sons shared his father's love of the ocean. They are in my thoughts and heart.

Scott was part of our family at The Hunters Inn, he often called it his "other" office while he worked as he had lunch. We will miss his smile, his kindness, his generosity. He was a wonderful man who clearly was happy with his life and family who he spoke often of, always with a proud smile on his face. Rest in peace our friend.

So sorry to hear about Scott. It seems like yesterday that we were playing a pick up game of football in the snow together in front of our frat at Brown. The traits that made him successful in life were already on full display then. He will be forever young in my memory. My deepest condolences to his family. Brent Taylor (Brown '77)

Holly and family, words cannot begin to express my feelings at the loss of Scott Lynn. (Yes, I know, I'm not supposed to use his middle name anymore!) He was always there when I needed him, just a phone call away, no matter where he was in the world. Even when we were kids, he listened to my opinions, encouraged me to excel and always told me he had my back because we're family. Please know that you and the kids will always be a part of my family. May you find solace in knowing not only how well loved he was by family, friends and colleagues, but also how much he loved and cherished all of you.
