Sheila Marie Kelly  
Formerly of Washington, DC, peacefully entered eternal life on July 15, 2021. Sheila was born on June 5, 1941 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She spent her early life on Maui and graduated from the Punahou School in Honolulu. She received her bachelor's degree from The Catholic University of America in 1964 and graduated from The George Washington University Law School in 1971.Sheila and her husband, John, raised 8 children in the Brookland neighborhood of Washington, DC. She was very artistic and embroidered lovely baby quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid china painter and enjoyed traveling to attend art seminars. As a devout Catholic, Sheila was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish for more than 50 years. Among other roles, she served as lector, altar server, sacristan, and Eucharistic minister. She was also a Secular Franciscan at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land of America and participated in the Washington Retreat House community. She volunteered at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Kelly, her son, Sean G. Kelly, her parents, Cable and Virginia Wirtz, and her brother, Richard Wirtz.She is survived by seven of her children, Sarah A. Kelly, Mark J. Kelly, Peter T. Kelly, Mara Kelly Marsh, Siobhan Kelly-Martens, Scott A. Kelly and David S. Kelly, and by 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 1029 Monroe Street, NE, Washington DC at 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
