Shirley Grasty Obituary

(May 11, 1935 – September 19, 2025) lived 90 years of love, service, and dedication. A native Washingtonian and proud Ward 8 resident, she was a pioneer in financial services, serving families and businesses with integrity for over 40 years through community credit unions. Respected, steady, and devoted, Shirley's work was her calling, and she remained a guiding presence until the age of 83. Her legacy of service, advocacy, and love continues in the many lives she touched. She is survived by three sisters, Frances Palmer, Marva Thompson, and Robin Griffin; seven nieces; two nephews; and a host of great nieces and great nephews to cherish her memory.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at McGuire Funeral Home, 7400 Georgia AVenue NW, Washington, DC 20012, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and funeral services at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Maryland National Cemetery.
