HAMBURG, SHIRLEY ELAINE
Finally succumbed to a brain aneurysm on January 7, 2002. She served on the Board of CHANGE - All Souls, that helped to rebuild the 14th St. corridor and on the Board of Independent Living for the Handicapped. She was also an active member of Hadassah, Caribbean American Intercultural Org. (CAIO), Jamica Volunteers and Women's Committee of the National Symphony Orchestra. As a decendent of 16th Century French Explorers, and with Ojibwa lineage, she will be noted as a charter member of the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. Married to Fred Hamburg for over 57 years, she is mourned by a loving husband; a cherished daughter, Erica, and beloved son, Hillary Ethan, as well as relatives and friends nationwide. Her activist life, will be celebrated at All Souls Unitarian Church, 16th & Harvard Sts., N.W. on Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to CAIO, will be appreciated.
