Shirley Byers Moore, a native Washingtonian, died July 15, 2005 at Westminster at Lake Ridge Retirement Community. She grew up in Toronto, Canada and Washington, DC, graduated from McKinley High School, attended Wilson Teachers College, was a graduate of Washington School for Secretaries, all in DC. She was a life member of Presbyterian Women, a PEO, and a Gray Lady volunteer for the American Red Cross. After moving to Arlington, VA, she joined The National Presbyterian Church and was active in many phases of the church.
She and her husband resided at the Westminster Retirement Community at Lake Ridge at the time of her death. A Memorial Service will be held at Westminster at 2:30 p.m. on August 17, 2005. Inurnment will be at the National Presbyterian Church Columbarium at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, J. Edwin Moore of Lake Ridge, VA; a daughter, Margaret Louise Moore of Burke, VA; a son, John E. Moore; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Moore; and two grandchildren, Janet Mary Judd Moore and Thomas Oliver Judd Moore, all of Toronto.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to the Westminster Resident Supporting Fund at Westminster at Lake Ridge, 12191 Clipper Dr., Lake Ridge, VA 22192.
