SOPHIA K. MACHROWICZ
On October 13, 2006 at age 98, SOPHIA K. MACHROWICZ (nee Jara), beloved wife of the late former Congressman representing Hamtramck, MI. and the Detroit area from 1950-1961 and Federal Judge from 1961-1970, Thaddeus Machrowicz. Loving daughter of the late Casmier and the late Katherine Jara. Dearest mother of Tod and Don Machrowicz. Dear mother-in-law of Roberta and Jeanne. Also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Irene (the late Frank) Berlin, Ervin (Helen) Jara, Alice (Albert) Parnis and the late Edward Jara. Sophia graduated from Detroit Conservatory of Music and attended Wayne State University. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance, Polish Aid Society, and Polish Woman's Alliance. Her voice could be heard around the world and in Europe broadcast through Voice of America. She was an accomplished pianist and composer and her music brought joy to family and friends. Visitation Tuesday. 10 a.m. until 12 noon time of funeral at WUJEK-CALCATERRA & SONS, INC., 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile), Sterling Heights, MI 48312. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
