Sophie Nicholson Obituary

Sophie Marshall Nicholson, 86, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on June 23, 2024. She was born in Washington, DC to the late Richard Coke Marshall III and Florence Beale Marshall. She was a retired realtor, having sold properties in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Sophie was a non-resident member of Christ Church Georgetown in Washington, DC.
Sophie is predeceased by her daughters Suzanne "Zanna" Beale Brawner Woodhead, Kimberly Nicholson Tufte, and by her grandson Ira Woodhead. Sophie is survived by her husband, John William "Jack" Nicholson; daughters, Margie & Betsy Brawner, Sophie B. Correll, Sophie Correll's husband Hoy Correll, Molly Nicholson Peacock, Molly's husband Glen Peacock, son General John W. "Mick" Nicholson, Jr., U.S. Army Retired, Mick's wife Norine MacDonald; 13 grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Tufte, Caroline Nicholson Warnberg, John Nicholson III, Grace Woodhead, Mallory Weaver, Thomas Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Chris Correll, Henry, Max, Phillip and Sophie "Fifi" Peacock, and two great grandchildren, Brawner and Zanna Weaver.
A memorial service will be held on July 9, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church, Georgetown, 3116 O Street NW, Washington, DC. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery later.
