Steve, I didn't know you that well and wish that could have been different. The times I did meet you were filled with laughter as was every conversation on the phone. Steve was a great guy...my train buddy.. he will be greatly missed. We worked together for 7 years for the USPS.

I played youth baseball against Steve back in the early '50's in Alexandria. I recall his getting a number of hits off me which was a big deal then because I was a star pitcher.
I was happy for his making it to the Majors as an umpire. I remember the incident he had with Dallas Green which became a nationally covered sports story.
