Steven Rider Obituary

Steven Neil Rider, devoted husband and father of two, died June 10, 2024 of cancer. He was 52 years old.

Steven served in the United States Air Force during the Persian Gulf War. He held positions as a general contractor, model, and as a special education teacher, but his most important occupation was as a stay-at-home father to his two daughters, to whom he was wholly committed.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley Kelloff; two daughters, Annabel and Margaret; mother and father, Jenny Batman and Alan Rider; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial will be held on July 4 to celebrate Steven's love of life and country. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to 19Hands. 19Hands is the non-for-profit organization that runs the War Horse Forge where Steven spent time with other veterans making things out of iron.

To the family and friends of Steven, please accept our deepest condolences. No matter how many years have passed since our families last saw each other, we will always remember how your presence filled our heart(s) with happiness and created lasting and wonderful memories. I´m glad we were able to have a window into your life these last few years - as we shared (from afar) how your family grew. Your smile was still as bright as the sun, and you were taken from this world much too soon Rest in peace and look in on us every now and then, ok? Much love, Patricia, Sean, Claranne and Leanne (O´Callaghan) Jones

Ashley, Annabel, and Margaret- My thoughts and love are with you. Steven and I had a friendship that baffled most people. We bonded over being away from home with me in college and him in basic training and the Gulf War. All these years my favorite conversations were about the three of you. I could feel the love and pride in them. I will forever miss his philosophy, his crazy stories, and his smile.
