I worked as a colleague with Steve at PFCU from 1987 - 1994. Not only was Steve one of the smartest, kindest, most interesting persons I have known; he was a good friend to my family, as well.
RIP, my friend. Tim, thanks for sharing him along the years!
Sincerely, George & Sue Allen. Viera, FL

Steve was an amazing person, someone who was dedicated, artsy, diligent, hard working, compassionate, kind, a rare person who one could confide in and trust fully and immediately and he did an amazing job curating work/penfed documentation, sharing knowledge and advice and help for others which no one does. He was really a kind and wonderful human being and it is a true loss. He was always there until 8 pm working away and still advising people throughout the organization and he was a rock and a genuinely loving spirit. Today at funeral I was amazed with how many people he touched and how everyone described him the same. He was always kind, helpful and there to help anyone. It is a really a blessing to have known him. My thoughts and best wishes, hopes and prayers to the family and loved ones.

It is with deep sadness that I learned of Steve Troxel's death.

Representing Alexandria's North East Civic Association, he was a long term member of Alexandria's Mirant Community Monitoring Group, assigned to research and study pollution at the old Mirant coal-fired power plant.

Steve was a reliable and thoughtful member of the group. He was always prepared for meetings, asked tough questions and took his role on the monitoring group seriously. He never wavered in his twelve year effort to close the Mirant plant.

We, now, are the beneficiaries of Steve's, the City's and the Monitoring Group's contributions that shuttered the plant and relieved us of the greatest single stationary source of air pollution in the Washington metropolitan area.

May Steve rest in peace.

To me, Steve Troxel was an extraordinarily kind and warm person. How can I say that when I barely knew him? Steve Troxel was there for my Mom when I was overseas and couldn't be. The few times I met him, I was so thankful he was my Mom's friend. We need many more people like Steve in the world! Steve will always be in our memory and in our hearts. Mom, and (thankful) me, will miss him very much.

Steve and I worked together at Pentagon Federal Credit Union for about 20 years. We would also go to the opera together. We enjoyed those evenings a lot. Steve was the only one that would come with me. No one else around me had any interest in the opera. Since my retirement we still met on occasion and still had fun. I will miss him greatly.
