Susan Mary Ballmann (Age 66)
Susan Ballmann, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and Christian Child of God, departed this world to be with her Heavenly Father on April 26, 2022. Her quick laugh, big heart, Christian faith, and unbounded enthusiasm for life will be grievously missed by all those who love her.
Born and raised in Kensington, MD, Sue attended Holy Cross School and enjoyed all the benefits of a Montgomery County childhood: summer afternoons at the Garrett Park pool, good times at Wheaton Plaza when it was an outdoor shopping mall, fun activities with her Brownie and Girl Scout troops, dining and eventually working at the local Hot Shoppes, picking strawberries at Butler's Orchard, sledding down the big hill by St. Angela Hall, watching fireworks in the field behind Garrett Park Elementary, and playing and coaching CYO basketball for the Holy Cross girls' basketball team.
Sue graduated from Charles W. Woodward High School in 1974 and went on to earn her B.B.A. from St. Mary's College in Notre Dame and a Masters in Taxation from the University of Baltimore. Following college, Sue first lived in Baltimore and soon moved to Germantown where she started her tax business, served as President of the Germantown Jaycees, and was deeply involved with the Mother Seton parish until she moved to Solomons, MD, in 2009.
Sue was an avid world traveler who jetted off to far-away locations in Hawaii and Europe and Australia but whose favorite, most-traveled-to spot on this planet was Ocean City, NJ, where she spent her childhood summers with her family. But for her home, she most recently chose Solomons, Maryland, to spend her final years with her many friends and fellow parishioners who brought her so much joy and friendly companionship during the last decade of her life.
A visitation will be held at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd., West, Silver Spring, MD. (Valet Parking) on Wednesday May 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Church, 4900 Strathmore Ave., Garrett Park, MD on Thursday, May 19, at 11 am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Sue is survived by her mother, her brothers, her nieces, her cousins, and her many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan's name to the American Cancer Society.

Blessings to all of Sue´s family and friends. I miss Sue´s humor and I cherish the memories of the many adventures she planned for our little group all over Europe. She was always ready to give a helping hand.

The video about Sue is wonderful. She was such a lovely person and she's left a big hole in our lives. She had such an enthusiastic and can-do attitude. She could talk for hours about her interests and so willingly shared her knowledge. The picture I've attached is at Operation Patuxent, a Circle of Angels Initiative event where we commemorate the Solomons WWII site. She had us do a candlelit walk along the water in 2019. It was spectacular and very moving. We'll do it again after not being able to do it since 2019 because of Covid. She was always a fun and very wise part of the Dream Queen Foundation, a group of entrepreneurial women. I'm expecting to find many things she's organized when I meet her in Heaven. My deepest condolences to her many friends and family.

My deepest condolences to the family. I always enjoyed talking with Sue. We were involved in a few business ventures together. Will truly miss her, she was a "go-getter", intelligent, bright, kind and a thoughtful person. May she RIP.
