Susan had too much integrity to be either boastful or bashful about her stunning preppy good looks, One time, when she was bemoaning the burden of her education loans, I asked if she had ever in law school considered modelling blazers and sportswear for LL Bean or J. Crew to offset those expenses. She said the idea had occasionally passed through her mind, but "other things" would quickly make it but a fleeting thought. I replied: "Yes, other things -- like becoming one of the nation's most preeminent ERISA lawyers."

Susan was a learned person and excellent lawyer colleague. Had many qualities, but especially honest in a way rare in corporate law departments. I loved her and will miss her. Richard J. Cummins
