Suzanne Szabo Obituary

Dr. SUZANNE E. SZABO
Dr. Suzanne E. Szabo, of Mount Pleasant, Washington, DC, passed away on March 1, 2012, at Washington Hospital Center after a prolonged illness. Born to Joseph and Mary Szabo (both deceased) of Anderson, South Carolina, she was an applied sociologist who headed a consulting firm, Organizational Research and Consulting. Her clients included the IRS, Ernst & Young, and the Defense Information Systems Agency. Educated at the University of Maryland University College (BA), Boston University (M. Ed.), and North Carolina State University (Ph.D.), she served in leadership positions with the American Society for Training and Development (national, Los Angeles, and DC chapters), and as president of Historic Mt. Pleasant. Known by all as a vivacious, beautiful, and caring person, she is survived only by her life partner, Dr. Joseph Robert White. In lieu of flowers, he asks donations to be made in her name to one of the following charities that she supported: the Kennedy Center; the Smithsonian Institution; Historic Mt. Pleasant; or the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Camps and Ghettos Encyclopedia Project. In keeping with her wishes, friends and neighbors are holding a series of gatherings in the month of March to celebrate her life, instead of a memorial service.

Suzanne and I were first cousins ( our fathers were brothers ). The last time we spent time together was June of 1994 in Hershery, Pa. We didn't see each other much due our busy life styles. Nevertheless the brief time we spent over the years together will be fondly remembered. Rest in peace sweety. God Bless and keep you till we meet again.

Suzanne and I work together closely in my company, Group Dimensions International. She was a brilliant sociologist and Highly effective consultant. I speak of her often and I always feel sad that we lost such a beautiful person. She was a friend and a shining spirit in our lives.

I was Suzanne's cousin ( our fathers were brothers ). I first learned of her passing today 6/7/20. I never had the pleasure of meeting Joe but none the less I extend my belated heartfelt sympathy to you.

"Z" shared some of her precious years with us at Group Dimensions International as a Senior Associate. We will miss her wonderful laugh, her friendship, and, of course, her brilliance as a practicing sociologist. It is such a shock to lose her! Oh Suzanne. My deepest condolences to you Joe and her family. Suzanne and I shared a work space for a few years at the IRS. I left 2 years ago but will always remember our conversations, her laugh and the wonderful, kind and generous woman that she was.

I am so sorry to hear of ZeZe's passing. We had so many great times during our years at NCSU and afterward. She was always a delight to be around and brought many a laugh to our group of overworked graduate students so many years ago. A light has gone out but my memories will live on.

I will miss Suzanne as I'm sure many of us who have worked with her will. Simply a nice and pleasant (and smart) person to work with.

Having only spoken with Zsuaza on the phone, her laughter and love of life were infectious. I only wish we had had time to really get to know one another much better. But to our dear friend Joe, I only hope that the hole that has been left in your heart will be filled with the best and warmest of memories of the deep love you and Zsuaza found together. With deepest sympathies.

Although I did not have the opportunity to meet this lovely, talented, woman, my heart goes out to Joe during this difficult time.
