Teri Knowles Obituary

Teri, of Ashton, MD, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025 after a valiant battle with ALS. Born August 12, 1956 in St. Louis, MO to the late Annette Anthony and William E. Hanna, Jr. She was a long-time Physical Therapist with the Howard County Public Schools.

Beloved wife of John Knowles; devoted mother of Michael Knowles, Rachel Greenwalt (husband, Rick), and Daniel Knowles; cherished grandmother of Billy and Hanna Greenwalt; loving sister of Sharon Bladen, Mickey Indyk, Kathy Copmann, and Jeanette Freeland. She is survived by a large, warm extended family. Preceded in death by her sisters, Patty Fourcade and Mary Cross.

Family will receive friends at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Montgomery Ave., Rockville, MD on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at Saint Peter's Parish, 2900 Olney-Sandy Spring Road, Olney, MD on Thursday, July 31 from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flower, please consider contributions to the Lt Col. William E. Hanna Jr. Scholarship or the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter – Mary's Marchers.

Teri was a co-worker at Running Brook ES but so much more than that. We played bingo (Mary, too), had lunch together, and enjoyed our book club. She will be missed.
