Theresa Lewis
Peacefully on July 21, 2023. Survived by her cousins, godchildren, and many dear friends. A memorial service of celebration will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, 10 a.m. Visitation / 11 a.m. Service, Peoples Congregational United Church of Christ, 4704 13th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20011. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor, to any of her favorite organizations/institutions: John Wesley AME Zion Church, Washington, DC, Livingstone College, Salisbury, NC, Washington Jazz Arts Institute (WJAI), Washington, DC. Arrangements by Marshall March Funeral Home.

Loyalty, Kindness, Generosity...These are just a few of the qualities that aptly describe Theresa Lewis. We first met during my consultancy as a writer with the former National Center for Neighborhood Enterprise in Washington, where she provided impeccable administrative support. That professional encounter grew into our close and enduring friendship over decades and distances. During her illness, I also saw the devotion in Theresa's local friendships, some dating from childhood. I will deeply miss "The Duchess," but I am comforted by our shared Christian belief that as a woman of great faith, she has been rewarded with eternal peace.
