Therese Jacob Obituary
JACOB THERESE O'NEILL JACOB Therese O'Neill Jacob, 74, of New Bern, NC, died peacefully on Ash Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Craven Regional Medical Center after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She wrote the food column, "Taste of Emerald" in the Greenbrier Gazette in New Bern. She loved to travel and was an accomplished musician who sang in the Craven Community Chorus and St. Paul Catholic Church Choir. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Conrad Jacob. Therese is survived by her son, Charley Jacob of Raleigh, NC; two daughters, Kathryn Bass and Patrice Rhodes, both of Sterling, VA; one sister, Nance Greiner of Millwood, NY; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her loving companion, Kenneth Peele. Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Bishop Thomas Welsh officiating. Interment will be held at the Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 19 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Craven County Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Drawer 12610, New Bern, NC 28561.

I am so grateful to Therese. She gave life to two fun-loving, attractive daughters who welcome me when I visit Susan in Virginia. The vibrancy of Therese's life lives on through Pat and Katie. Our thoughts have been, and will be, with Therese's loved ones.

I remember Aunt Therese as a warm and loving person who always had time for a good laugh and a smile. Watch over and pray for me on the rest of my journey here on earth. I look forward to seeing you once again. I will miss you always.

I only knew Therese for a short period of time, as we both wrote for the Greenbier Gazette and I sometimes was the proofer for her column "Taste of the Emerlad". We did have some pleasant chats about her column. She was a delightful lady! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, her family, at this difficult time. Our Greenbrier community has lost a wonderful member.
